Hi scrappers. I did quite a bit of Christmas shopping this past weekend and got some great deals for myself as well. Michael’s and Joann both had fab Cricut cartridge deals, so I picked two of those up. I also drew my sister-in-law’s name this year for Christmas and she does some scrapping so I got her a 12×12 storage bin and a scrapbook album kit with papers and embellishments pretty cheap. She also has a Cricut so I got her some mats for that on sale. Now is the time to score big on scrapbook supplies and storage so buy yourself a present when you get a chance. If you are like me, the scrapbooking presents are best!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Be sure to count your blessings this year! Of course, the official start of Christmas shopping season is upon us starting on Black Friday! The deals are going to be amazing from what I have seen so far. If you are wanting the Cricut Electronic Cutter be sure to go online to Joann.com right away on Friday. They are going for $75. That is a great deal and as much as I use mine, it is well worth it. I usually get worked up about tracking down some bargains, but I think this year I may stick to online Black Friday deals. Those long lines and not having enough product in stock usually put a big damper on my good shopping mood. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving Holiday!

Scrapbooking Retreat Digital Scrapbook Page

A couple of friends and I went on a spur of the moment scrapbooking retreat last August. I decided to go through some of my digital scrapbooking kits to see what kit would go with the colors in these pictures. The free kit I used was designed by Melany Violette called “Delightful Girl.” I downloaded this kit from her website, simplycleandigiscraps.com about a year ago. I also used a photo template I bought from scrapgirls.com as a starting point on this page. The templates are nice because you can just place your pictures in the openings for quick and easy scrapbooking. After you do that, you pick your digital paper and then use the clipping mask command(Ctrl-G) to cut the paper in the shape of the template.

Family Ties Autumn Digital Scrapbook Page

I received some cute pictures of my cousin’s kids about a week ago and knew I better look through my digital supplies to see what I could play with. Scrapbooking is just such a nice distraction. I found one of my free digital kits from shabbyprincess.com called “All-in-One.” It has an autumn theme that went with these pictures well, especially the one from the pumpkin patch. I also used some wordart that I had gotten free with a newsletter from scrapgirls.com. Amanda Sok happened to be the designer that day and her “Family Ties” wordart put the finishing touch on this page.

Pages From My Grandma’s 90th Birthday Gift Album

Hi scrappers! I finally took some pictures of some of my favorite pages from my Grandma’s 90th Birthday album I made for her a few years back. She recently passed away last month and my extended family gave it back to me. She really loved the album and took it out to show quite a few people when she was alive. It was also brought to the services for everyone to look at. If you get the chance to scrapbook an album like this, I would do it, because it will turn into a treasure for all to share. I took photos of the title page and the first couple of pages following that. I typed up the guest list and made a pocket on one of the pages to put it in, in case she wanted to remember everyone that was there. I figured that not all guests may have been included in the pictures although quite a few were which was nice. It was hard to pick another favorite page, but the picture of my Grandma with her best friend, Violet, was really endearing to me.

Hello scrappers! I was supposed to post some pages from my Grandma’s 90th Birthday album, but I haven’t been able to do it yet. She just passed away and I’m still feeling blue. I did pick out the pages I want to show you, but won’t be posting those until next week. I’ve also had other bad news–my friend’s mother passed away this week and another friend was supposed to have minor surgery that turned into major surgery. Ugh! Tonight, luckily, I’m going out for dinner with a girlfriend and then we are going scrapbooking. I always feel better when I scrapbook, so this is my “Scrap Therapy.”

Gift Albums for an Event

Unfortunately, I had a gift album returned to me. My grandmother passed away recently and I got the album back that I made for her three years ago for her 90th birthday party. I plan on going through it this week and picking out my favorite pages to show you. I’m glad to get it back and I will always remember how much she enjoyed looking through it and sharing it with others. I also plan on doing some sort of Memorial Page, but am not sure when I’m going to get to that. I’ve never done one before, but am realizing how nice it would be to do one for those friends and family who go on to their final resting place before me. Check back later this week for some ideas for making a scrapbook for a memorable event like a milestone birthday. Happy Scrapping!

Freshmen Friends Reunited Digital Scrapbooking Page

Last month I got together with two friends from college. One friend I hadn’t seen since her wedding around 1990. She now lives in South Dakota and came to the Twin Cities for a work conference. It was so fun to see her and catch up on what we have been doing. I used the “Flutter By” digital kit to do this page also. I plan on making a freebie quickpage for you to download and use modeled after this page. Be sure to stop back again as I should have it posted by the end of the week. What I really like about this page is the fact that I was able to dig up some old photos of us in college and add them to the pictures I took last month for a priceless page. I think I’m going to have to remember to do this for more pages to come, especially of my kids.

Kid Scrapbooking Page Ideas

I just opened a digital kit from my digital designer friend Karyn Robinson called “Flutter By” to play with. I had some pictures I took last month at a friend’s house and had to try out this kit. This page is of my friend, Allyson, and her daughter. I wanted to do something different with them and managed to dig out a frame I got in a newsletter from Scrapgirls.com. It looks like a negative so I used two of them on this page for the two pictures. The rest of the embellishments and the digital paper came from the “Flutter By” kit that you can find on sale at Enchanted Studios. This page went really fast for me and came together in about 15 minutes.
