I’ve made another digital page using my friend Karyn’s new kit called “Tales of the Heart.” I usually have my pictures up front in the foreground when digital scrapping, but this time I tried something different. I made my page and then came across the frame embellishment that looks like a wreath. Since my photo is taken outdoors on a hike, this goes with the theme of the page perfectly. Hope you enjoy it!

Here it is! A great quickpage for your own personal use. As part of Karyn Clarke’s Creative Team for Digital Arts Cafe, I get to use her kit to make a freebie just for you. How cool is that! If you really like this page, you should head on over to Digital Arts Cafe for some other quickpages available for free, and you can also check out Karyn’s other kits that coordinate with this Temptation Kit. She has some cool alphas and other elements that could be just what you might need to complete your pages. At first when I started using this kit, I thought that red and black might be kind of limited for the pictures that I had, but I was wrong and when I thought about it you could use the papers easily for other wedding pictures or even formal dance pictures for your high school kids. Thanks for designing a great kit Karyn!

Here is another scrapbook page I made with the Temptation Kit from Karyn at Digital Arts Cafe. My in-laws celebrated their 40th anniversary this year and I took a nice photo of them so I decided to try it out with this kit and it looks fantastic! What they are wearing in the picture just happens to match the kit and their picture really pops when used with this kit. I used some of the papers in this kit and designed some of my own elements using the cookie cutter tool in Photoshop elements. I made the swirls and the frame around their picture using that great tool. If you get a chance, give it a try. I think you’ll be amazed at what little old you can do. Be sure to visit tomorrow for your Valentine’s gift. I made a quickpage out of exactly this same page that you will be able to download free from this site. Also, more quickpages from this kit can be found at the Designs by Karyn blog. Put them together and have a two page spread in no time.

Since Valentine’s Day is coming up and I had to make some layouts with the Temptation Kit from Karyn at Digital Arts Cafe, I decided to do a sweetheart scrapbook page about my husband. I don’t think I’ve ever just dedicated a scrapbook page to just him in a long time, if ever. The papers and elements in this kit worked well for doing this page. I just cropped the photos to fit together, cropped a piece of the red digital page for a background matte, added the rest of the elements and a little text and I was done. I do see that I should add the year that these pictures were taken somewhere on the page. I think a lot of the time, we scrapbookers get caught up in the design and overlook some little important things like the date or the year. After the page was finished I added drop shadows to all of the pieces on the page except the background paper and the pictures. When I was first learning about digital scrapbooking from a course I downloaded, I found out about drop shadowing for digital layouts and how it can add so much to your page as far as dimension goes. I’m headed out of town tomorrow to a scrapbooking retreat, but I’ve posted ahead some other layouts and a special free Valentine’s Day digital quickpage freebie for you on the 14th, so please come back and grab it.

I usually don’t do valentine scrapbook pages, but when I was writing this blog about Valentine’s Day I remembered some pictures I have from a few years ago. I think I remembered because I actually look pretty good in the one picture. Those tend to stick out in my mind because I don’t have many pictures of myself as I’m usually the one doing all of the picture taking. I just scanned my pictures into my computer since they are from 2002. Most of my digital elements I got free from getting the newsletter from Scrapgirls.com. I get their daily newsletter and at the end of every letter there is a freebie. If I like it, I download. If I don’t, I delete. I also checked out the Valentine Blog Train for digital freebies and found a cute wordart kit. I’ll list all of them in case you would like them for your own digital collection.
Items from Scrapgirls: Heartfelt paper from Melanie Johnson’s Heartfelt Collection, A Portrait of Love Paper from Ariadna Wiczling’s Portrait of Love Collection, and ribbon from Angela Blanchard’s Sweet Whimsy Collection. The WordArt Fun kit is from Kathy Winters Designs. All were free!

I’m not really a big Valentine’s Day person, but I’m going to discuss it on the blog this week. I don’t really do Valentine pictures either, but we can talk about “love” layouts this week. I’ll see what I can dig up and I have a great Sweetheart and Anniversary layout to show you that I made recently. I will also have a digital quickpage for you to download at the end of the week!! How exciting! I have been asked to join a digital designer’s creative team and it has forced me to do some more digital scrapbooking. Hopefully I’ll get to the point where I will be designing, but for now I’m learning some more about digital scrapbooking techniques. If you get some time in the next few weeks, also grab yourself some freebies on the Valentine Blog Train sponsored by Digital Arts Cafe. Check back daily, to see what I’m up to and please leave comments about your own scrapbook pages.
