Hello scrappers! I don’t know if any of you make your own cards or not, but I’ve found having scrapbook supplies and making homemade cards kind of run hand in hand. It also saves me some money as cards are running a couple of dollars per card these days. I was making a couple of birthday cards and decided to try using a couple of different kinds of letter stickers to put “Happy Birthday” on the front of a card. I really didn’t have a choice because some of the most used letters I was out of. It turned out quite nice and now I’m going to be using my leftover letters for this purpose. You can also mix up your stickers on your scrapbook pages for titles and journaling. Try it sometime for a different look!

Since many of us scrapbookers are working on trying to get our kids back to school, I thought I would use my friend, Karyn Robinson’s new digital kit, “Tales of the Heart” to make a free digital quickpage for those back to school photos. She has a really cute clipboard embellishment in the kit that was perfect to use for this page. The alphabet she created also is very cute with little hearts and works great for the title. Just add your pictures and text and you have one more page out of the way. Hope you like it. Enjoy!

I’ve made another digital page using my friend Karyn’s new kit called “Tales of the Heart.” I usually have my pictures up front in the foreground when digital scrapping, but this time I tried something different. I made my page and then came across the frame embellishment that looks like a wreath. Since my photo is taken outdoors on a hike, this goes with the theme of the page perfectly. Hope you enjoy it!

An old family friend passed away this week and her funeral was today. I make quite a few cards and I wanted to make a sympathy card, but wondered how I should do it. I started thinking about this as soon as I heard of her death. I was thinking…do I have any pictures of her? I went looking in one of my wedding albums and I found a picture of Betty and her late husband at my friend’s (their daughter’s) wedding. After I found that picture, I started talking to my husband and a scrapping friend about whether I should use this picture to make some nice remembrance cards for her children (my friends). They thought it was a good idea so I went ahead and scanned the picture out of the album. I cropped it into an oval shape and placed it on some digital paper. I made it a 4×6 print so I could upload it to a photo site and add a border around it and get it in one hour. I also added a “Carpe Diem–Seize the Day” saying on the front. I also wonder if it is appropriate to blog about making this card, but it will help the healing process I guess as I’m pretty torn up about this loss. You see, my friends, Paul and Linda just lost their dad a year and a half ago and now their mom this week. My friends are only 41 and 42 years old so it is a tragic loss for them. Here’s the base for the card front.

Rest well old friend….

Hello scrappers! My schedule has been a little crazy this week with school starting. I also found out that a friend of my family’s has passed away and my father-in-law is scheduled to have surgery for a brain tumor this Friday. So I guess the title of my page also applies to my life situation right now even though the subject matter is completely unrelated. The picture on this page comes from a camping trip we took this summer. We went to Gooseberry Falls State Park on the North Shore and this picture was taken after it rained all night. The falls were full and beautiful to look at. I used Karyn Robinson’s Tales of the Heart Digital Kit found at Enchanted Studio Scraps. Please check it out for your digital scrapping needs.

Hello scrappers! Two girlfriends and myself went on a little scrapping retreat last weekend. We went ahead and did it with little to no planning and it was terrific. We knew we wanted to do something scrappy about 3 weeks ahead of time and I started looking into retreat houses within a couple of hours drive from us. I ended up finding a place an hour from me that wasn’t booked that weekend. The best part is she usually rents to a party of five at $120 per person, but since it was last minute she rented it to the three of us at the same rate. Yes! We all stayed the weekend for a grand total of $360! The best part about the place was the scraproom which had beautiful views of the lake and a lot of space for our supplies. We kept the food simple and just made a sandwich or had a salad whenever we felt like eating. We also brought veggies and dip and chips and salsa to have for snacking. The best treat for me was the cheesecake that my girlfriend brought! Loved it!
